Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell is an American TV chef and former instructor of the Institute of Culinary Education. She is the host of Food Network's Secrets of a Restaurant Chef as well as the host of Worst Cooks in America. Her signature spiky blonde hair and bubbly presence, Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of food in restaurants and shares concise easy-to-master techniques to the home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has worked in various top eateries within New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy and competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Growing up in the Upstate region of New York Chef Burrell was infatuated by food. After earning an English and Communications degree from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she pursued her interest in the world of food and restaurant management by enrolled at The Culinary Institute of America. I was awed by every minute of being a student at The Culinary Institute of America she states. It was hard to study and do enough or put in the hours. Chef Burrell, after graduating from the Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Italy spent one year working in Umbria at La Taverna del Lupo and Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, which is a Michelin-starred restaurant. Through her stay in Italy she came to recognize and comprehend the principles of Italian cuisine and its culture, which created a lasting impact from a culinary point of view. Burrell has been a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten the lives of children who face obstacles. Burrell is also a Juvenile Research Foundation Celebrity ambassador in which she promotes the awareness of young-onset diabetes. Burrell travels extensively across the country as both a mentor and the guest speaker who discusses her work and passion for cooking. Throughout Anne's culinary journey she often says that she feels very fortunate be able to share the passion I have to others.
